Giants are been present in Myths, Folklore, and Religious texts all throughout History. While there is no official scientific evidence to support the existence of actual Giants on Earth, the tales and legends of these beings are to many to ignore and why has it captivated human imagination for centuries?

The official earliest references to giants can be traced back to ancient Mesopotamian and Sumerian civilisations, dating around 2500 BCE. But it is likely they date back alot further and have lived as civilisations on Planet Earth.

In Greek mythology, Giants were often portrayed monstrous beings

In Greek mythology, Giants were often portrayed as formidable and monstrous beings. They were said to be the offspring of Gaia, the Earth goddess, and Uranus, the sky god. Prominent examples of giants in Greek mythology include the Cyclopes and the Titans. The Cyclopes were depicted as one-eyed giants, while the Titans were a race of powerful giants who eventually faced war against the Olympian gods.

The Book of Genesis story of David and Goliath

In the Bible, giants are mentioned in the Book of Genesis, particularly in the story of David and Goliath. Goliath, a Philistine warrior, is described as an extraordinarily tall and fearsome giant. Other biblical references to giants can be found in the Book of Numbers and the Book of Deuteronomy, where they are described as inhabitants of Canaan.

Giant Bones found on Catalina Island in the 1900s

In the early 1900s on the Catalina Island, there were claims made by various individuals who said they found bones of giant humanoid beings while digging or exploring the island. Some even claimed that these bones belonged to ancient giants of up to 9 feet in height.

There have been several reports of giant bones being discovered off the coast of Catalina Island by local fishermen. One of the most famous cases involves a fisherman named Ralph Glidden, who claimed to have discovered giant bones in the 1920s. Glidden supposedly found a massive skull and other skeletal remains while digging a well on Catalina Island. He believed these bones belonged to a giant human-like creature that he dubbed the “Catalina Island Giant.” Glidden even constructed a museum on the island to display these bones, but unfortunately, the museum was destroyed in a fire in 1934, and the bones were lost.

Another fisherman named Daniel Carmen also claimed to have found giant bones off Catalina Island in the 1960s. Carmen reportedly discovered several vertebrae and other large bones while fishing in the area. He took these bones to a museum in San Diego for examination, but their fate is unknown, and there is no scientific record of their existence.

So did Giants exist on Planet Earth?

Are these just stories and legends depicting giants as supernatural beings or mythical creatures? Although they only exist in mythology and folklore and seem to be in some sort of fantasy land compared to the world we live in today. Maybe we are just not understanding what mythology and folklore actually are. Although we are in the present moment, it is important to be aware to these historical accounts that seem to be ignored by western main stream media.
